EPSDT (Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment)
Pediatric Preventive Health Care Program
We want to help ensure that your young patients get the care they need. That's why the liaisons in our EPSDT department assist the parents or guardians of all members younger than 21 years of age in receiving EPSDT screenings, treatment, follow-up, and referrals to the Early Intervention Program when appropriate. The EPSDT liaison also facilitates and ensures EPSDT compliance, provides follow-up concerning service issues, educates non-compliant members on AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania's rules and regulations, and assists members in accessing care.

Vaccines for Children Program (VFC)
Primary Care Physicians treating members up to age 18 must participate in the Vaccines for Children Program (VFC).
The Pennsylvania Department of Health's Vaccine for Children Program provides vaccines to children who are Medicaid eligible or do not have health insurance and to children who are insured but whose insurance does not cover immunizations (underinsured). These vaccines are to be given to eligible children without cost to the provider or to the member. All routine childhood vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) are available through this program.
